Michael Jackson’s Thriller

“Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” - This song is one of four songs on Thriller that Michael Jackson got sole songwriting credits on. One of the things that way too many people forget about when speaking of MJ is that he was not only a great singer and dancer, he was also a very creative songwriter.

“Baby Be Mine” - To get an idea of how good this album is consider this: “Baby Be Mine” is one of only two songs that wasn’t a hit single. This is a pretty catchy song to be one of just two tunes not released as a single.

“The Girl Is Mine” - The lyrics are cheesy as hell but I think that’s part of the song’s charm. I’ve really started to enjoy this song a lot lately. The interplay between Jackson & Beatles legend Paul McCartney damn cute. Jackson wrote this song.

“Thriller” - At this point the music video is probably more famous than the song which I think is kind of unfortunate. It’s a brilliant song and MJ’s incredible vocals really put it over the top. I don’t think any other artist could have really made this song work.

“Beat It” - The “rock crossover” song on the album includes a great guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen. This is the kind of thing that Jackson doesn’t get enough credit for, he was really pushing the envelope of what pop music could be. Jackson wrote “Beat It.”

“Billie Jean” - The perfect example of a Michael Jackson song. If you are ever questioning MJ’s songwriting ability, remember that he wrote this song.

“Human Nature” - This is one of the Thriller songs I enjoy most these days because it hasn’t been played to death like many of the other songs on the album. It’s a really pretty tune.

“P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” - I don’t think any song makes me want to “get down” more than “PYT.” Much like the beautiful “Human Nature,” this tune is among my favorite songs on Thriller because it hasn’t been included in so many greatest hits albums.

“The Lady In My Life” - The worst tune on the album? Probably. Still pretty darn great? Yes.

Does reading about Thriller make you want to learn how to sing like Michael Jackson? Well, I will not guarantee you that you will be able to sing just like Michael (who can?) but you can significantly improve your singing abilities with Singorama singing lessons which are 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Finding A Voice Teacher For Singing Voice Lessons

Private singing voice lessons will do wonders in helping you sing better. Unfortunately it’s not so easy to find a qualified and vocal teacher to help reach your goals so here are some helpful tips.

How to find a voice teacher tips

  • Get recommendations from friends who are already taking singing voice lessons. Keep in mind that all singing teachers have their strengths and weaknesses, so be sure to ask your friends what they like but also what they dislike about each singing teacher’s style. Ask yourself if this sounds like a coach for you.
  • Ask the local music store for suggestions. You may even find that a voice teacher works as a member of staff in a local music store. If that is not the case it’s pretty common that they will know a few qualified vocal coaches they could recommend.
  • Look for ads placed by voice teachers in the local newspaper. Perhaps you’ll find an experienced vocal coach offering vocal coaching lessons at an affordable price not far from where you live.
  • Get in touch with the music school at the nearest college. College graduates can make very good voice coaches. They’ve no doubt got plenty of great information to share that they’ve accumulated from their singing instructors. Also it’s likely that they are willing to help you improve your singing at an affordable rate.
  • Look online. You can also find private voice teachers advertising online.

What do you want from singing voice lessons?

Before calling a vocal teacher, it helps to be clear in your own mind about your singing objectives. Bear in mind that voice teachers have different strengths and weaknesses and knowing what you’re looking for in singing voice lessons will help you to identify whether the singing voice teacher is right for you.

  • What exactly are you looking to improve about your singing? e.g. increase your vocal range, develop your unique singing voice, hold out prhases longer, better articulation etc.
  • Do you want to learn to sing as a professional or is singing more of a hobby and personal interest for you? Do you want to be pushed? At what speed do you want to progress?
  • How long are you willing to spend practicing? If you’re short of time to practice it’s worth checking if your singing teacher would be willing to provide lessons every second week to give you more time.
  • What style of songs do you want to learn to sing? It’s important to check that your singing coach has the necessary experience in that singing style.

I hope you found these tips informative and that they will help you to find a suitable and affordable singing coach in your area. Rock-guitars Explained

Electric guitars are some of the most popular instruments used in the majority of musical genres, including rock, country, blues and jazz. The electric guitar made its first appearance in the 1930s in jazz music and big band performances. Electric guitars cannot be heard without amplification. Electrical components called pickups send the vibration of the strings to an amplifier in order to produce sound.

In order to help produce adequate vibration, electric guitars feature steel-cored strings. A standard electric guitar has only six strings but one, four, seven, eight, nine and twelve string electric guitars do exist. They are just rare. Traditional electric guitars have a solid body rather than a hollow body like an acoustic guitar. However, hollow body electric guitars do exist. Steel guitars are also electric instruments, but they are generally not considered to be in the electric guitar category.

Rock music in the 1950s and 1960s started a trend in the popularity of electric guitars that has continued strong into the present era. The first solid body electric guitar was the brainchild of Les Paul. Les Paul is now a type of electric guitar made by Gibson, but at that time, Gibson didn’t think that the idea of a solid body electric guitar would be popular, so they passed up the idea. They are just rare. Traditional electric guitars have a solid body rather than a hollow body like an acoustic guitar. However, hollow body electric guitars do exist. The Gibson ‘Les Paul’ followed very soon after.

Electric acoustic guitars are a combination of the acoustic and electric pickup technology used in both types of guitars. Because electric acoustic guitars can be played without an amplifier, they are considered as part of the acoustic guitar family rather than the electric guitar family. Twelve string guitars are usually associated with acoustic guitars, but twelve string electric guitars are used to create a fuller sound. George Harrison from the Beatles played a twelve string electric guitar which later inspired Roger McQuinn of The Byrds to make it a part of his signature sound.

Some of the strangest guitar shapes that can be seen are custom shaped electric guitars. The guitarist, Jimmy Page, for the famous “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin made the double head electric guitar famous. He needed to use both a six string and a twelve string guitar for the song. To help better fill this need, Gibson created a custom guitar that head two heads on one guitar. Don Felder also used a double head guitar in the Eagles’ song “Hotel California.” Some custom electric guitars are made with three, four or even five heads on one guitar.

Electric guitars are commonly associated with rock music, but their influence and prominence is displayed in many of the popular music genres of the present and the past. The electric guitar has played an important part in shaping the role of guitars across all musical genres. Some of the

The Beatles Are Finally Remastered On CD: New Mixes Out On 9/9/9

On 9/9/9 remastered versions of The Beatles 13 official studio albums will finally be released after over 20 years of waiting. The 1980s CD versions are thought by most to be a very poor example of mastering for CD which is a big reason why people have been wanting new better versions for so long.

But the excitement from 9/9/9 doesn’t just come from the fact that the albums are being remastered for the first time since their original release on CD, it also comes from the The Beatles mono CD box set that is being released on that day. This is the first time that the original mono mixes of The Beatles albums (up through 1968 which is when they stopped doing mono mixes) are going to be available on CD.

So why should we care about such an outdated way of listening to music here in the 21st century? Mono was being phased out in the 1960s, why should we listen to mono mixes today? Sure a lot of people think that stereo is all you need because it’s the standard these days, but for those curious about the original intention of The Beatles and their production team the mono mixes are of great interest.

The mono mixes are what the band (along with George Martin & Geoff Emerick) were primarily focused on. The Beatles stereo mixes were done with little input from the band while they were very involved with the mono mixes which were worked on until they were just right. Because of this many feel that the original mono mix of an album such as Sgt. Pepper is the “real” version of the album.

But that’s not all of the Beatles madness on 9/9/9 there’s also the new Beatles Rock Band game which looks to be absolutely incredible from the previews. It basically allows you to play through The Beatles career from the days of “Beatlemania” through the psychedelic era all the way through the end. The Beatles Rock Band instruments even look like the real Beatles instruments (check out Paul’s bass guitar!) And now for the first time with the Beatles Rock Band game, you can sing harmonies.

All About Cool Guitars Techniques Every Beginner Should Learning

One of the great things about the guitar when compared to other instruments, is the amount of subtle yet powerful techniques you can produce. This is because you have direct contact with the strings, as opposed to an instrument like a piano, where you have a limit to the different sounding techniques.

So I’ve decided to cover the basics of some of these techniques. If you’re a beginner, then these techniques are all things you need to eventually become familiar with.

The first technique is string bending. This is where you literally bend the strings with your fingers, to alter the pitch. It takes a little practice to get the sound in tune when you bend. It’s a good idea to practice bending in semi tones (so the bent note is the same as the next fret up from the one you’re bending). If your new to guitar, this may take some practice… but it is a popular technique, so you need to master it.

The next technique is the “hammer on”. This is when you use your finger to “hammer” on to another fret, without playing the string again. When you get more experienced, the hammer on technique can allow you to play quicker, and get a nice flowing melody of solo out of your guitar. But really, the possibilities are endless.

The next technique is similar to the last one. It is called the “pull off”. This is where you pull a finger away from a fret, so the note your holding down with your other finger is sounded. This technique is often used together with a hammer on for some pretty cool effects.

The next technique is muting. This is when you “mute” the strings with your hand, and strum the string still. It makes a nice percussive effect that is popular in many styles of music nowadays.

The next technique is the “slide”. This is where you play a note, and slide your finger up (or down) to a different fret. It makes for a nice fluid sound. It’s a popular technique for many songs, so it’s worth getting familiar with.

The final technique is vibrato. This is when you kind of wiggle your finger back and forth, or bend the string up and down very slightly. One of the great things about the guitar when compared to other instruments, is the amount of subtle yet powerful techniques you can produce.

And there you have some of the most popular guitar techniques, some of which are exclusive to the guitar. Practice these techniques well, and you’ll soon be able to make your playing more distinctive and interesting.

Fender Electric Guitar

Stevie Ray Vaughan hailed from Dallas Texas, and his name is synonymous with fender electric guitars. Stevie predominantly played a late fifties or early sixties version of the Strat (opinion is divided on its exact date), but there is no doubting that it was a Fender Stratocaster (Strat) guitar. Stevie seemed to favour this guitar over most others, and the sound is distinctly Fender, and Strat in particular, in quality.

The sound produced by Stevie Ray is almost classic Fender. The Strat is very distinctive, and adds a beautiful tone, especially to Stevie Ray’s blues playing. The video of Stevies' performance of Texas Flood is a great example of his feel for the blues. Stevie didn't stop with the blues though, and he used his Fender Guitar to great effect on many of his own compositions, as well as blues classics. I certainly recommend that you seek some out and enjoy the Texas blues at its very best.

Stevie’s background was steeped in the blues, so it is no surprise that his recordings feature many blues cuts. The video of Stevies’ performance of Texas Flood is a great example of his feel for the blues. Stevie didn’t stop with the blues though, and he used his Fender Guitar to great effect on many of his own compositions, as well as blues classics. He played a kind of shuffle exquisitely, as demonstrated on brilliant tunes such as ‘Pride and Joy’ and ‘Cold Shot’. SRV also covered many rock classics, and could do anything song he turned his attention to justice.

I had the great privilege of seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at the Hammersmith Odeon (it’s now called something else I think) in London, in the late 1980’s. Apart from the pleasure of seeing SRV play, the event was doubly memorable for me because Eric Clapton came in, accompanied by Ringo Starr and other halves, and sat down in front of me! How cool was that.

Stevie wrapped his Fender around all his classic cuts, including some specialty rocks songs that he covered, in honour of his peers. I am thinking here of Jimi Hendrix, for whom SRV covered Little Wing and Voodoo Chile. And Stevie’s renditions of these songs were spectacular. However, remembering Eric Clapton, reminded me of another SRV cover, which I recall EC getting very animated about, And that was a version of Stevie Wonder’s classic song ‘Superstition’, played with all the panache you would expect from a super showman like Stevie Ray Vaughan. And if Eric Clapton loved it, who am I to argue?

I am very grateful to the likes of Google’s You Tube that allows us to see late great artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan plying their trade. Seeing these great performers, many on stage where they were in their element. is a chance to see great workmen use their tools of trade, which in Stevie Ray’s case, was a Fender Electric Guitar!

The Overlooked Background of the Guitar

Has it ever come to mind as to how your wonderful guitar was made? Truth to be told, when the guitar was first invented, it didn’t really look like the kind of guitar that we know today. The guitar’s ancestry runs back so far, reaching the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia. The pioneering model of the guitar was from Iraq, only to pop up again two millennia later. Back then, it was still known as Mesopotamia. Archaeologists were able to discover drawings of men holding instruments with strings that looked like guitars. Another stringed instrument, resembling the guitar of today, was found in a tomb after the expansion of the Roman Empire a couple thousand years later. The dark ages also show that their version of the guitar was pretty popular too. The two designs that were most widely used were of either French or of German influence. One was softer in appearance, with a round belly and a stout neck for the frets and of course a sound hole. The other was geometric, and straight-edged. These two designs were found in a few church ruins and tombs in England. Most people hypothesize that these guitars were actually influenced by the instruments that were brought by the Moors to Europe in the early 8th century. In terms of the maturation of the guitar, Spain was the main center as it was located where the Moors initially started their invasion. The Vihuela was the first guitar model to become popular, at that time it had twelve frets. Tabs were then written so that everyone would be able to play this instrument with ease. Similar to the lute, the guitar was chosen to be played during the resistance. If you think about it, this contributes largely to the guitar’s modern day image. In between the 17th and 18th century, the guitar became even more popular because of Louis XIV. Among the European elite, it was a must to master the art of playing the guitar. After that, the evolution of the guitar continued until it came to look like how it looks like today. This became so popular that it spread to America, followed of course by everyone else. Nowadays, the guitar is at the zenith of its popularity. Freedom of expression through music became the biggest thing. People erected halls and venues where talented guitarists could play for other people, people started dancing to the music of guitars, it was soon popularized on the radio as well. As the demand for more guitar music rose, so did the musician’s desire for stronger and louder guitars. As a result, the guitar industry developed something called the electric guitar. Be it country, folk or rock, guitars are the number one choice for anyone starting a career in music. Guitars and their players share a great relationship, one that outlasts time and culture. Whether it is to vent out or relax, the guitar is still the number one instrument to use, no matter what. Want to answer the burning question How Do I Play guitar? The Best Gifts For Beatles Fans

If you have a Beatles fanatic among your family (including yourself!) you ought to circle September 9, 2009 on the calander because that’s the day three incredible Beatles related gifts are being released. The stereo box, mono box, and Beatles Rock Band video game. In this article I’ll go into a little detail about what makes each of these products such a good gift idea.

The Beatles Remastered Stereo CDs Box Set

Every recording The Beatles officially released from 1962 through ‘70 in very high quality stereo. That’s all 13 UK albums from 1962’s debut Please Please Me through 1970’s Let It Be. And yes this is a great gift even if the Beatlemaniac in question already owns all of their albums on compact disc. Why? Because these CDs sound much better than the older CDs.

These new CDs capture more of the original sound from the master tapes than do the old CDs. They allow for more details in the music to be heard and they have a “warmer” sound too.

The Beatles Mono CD Box Set

This is a great present for any serious Beatles fans because this is what all of the true “Beatles purists” have been waiting for: Finally, the original mono mixes from the ’60s are available on CD. This is the first time that the albums will be heard as they were originally intended to be heard by many younger Beatles fans!

Each of the band’s first 10 albums (up through The White Album) was mixed in mono and the band actually spent far more time working in mono than they did in stereo. The reason for that is that in the 1960s stereo was still a new concept and was thought to be something of a “fad.” Most of their fans listened to mono at that time so it only made sense for them to concentrate on mono.

Beatles Rock Band Video Game

This is a great gift for any Beatles fan who also enjoys playing video games. But I must say that you don’t have to be a gamer to like playing Rock Band. I hate games in general but I love playing this game.

This may also be a great way to introduce your children to The Beatles classic music.
